Recent Changes

Saturday Weekly Meetups
We are constantly striving to create a more enjoyable experience for our members and have decided that to better balance the language exchange, we would use two RSVP lists: TJEX Weekly Meetup (EN) and TJEX Weekly Meetup (JP).

• EN is for “advanced/native English speakers who are learning Japanese”.
  
• JP is for “advanced/native Japanese speakers who are learning English”.
  

Please join the one that best applies to your area of study. The dual listing will help ensure that we have a balanced meeting so that everyone can have an enjoyable language exchange. If you sign up incorrectly, please let us know and we will change your request to the correct area of study. If there isn't room, we will have to change your RSVP to "No".

Fee
The fee for each attendee each week is $1 to help reduce our website administrative cost. Starting August 1st, this will apply to first-time members as well.

Three Strikes Out Removal
Another initiative to create a more enjoyable experience is to ensure that all members that want to come have a chance to do so. Our meeting space is small so we cannot have everyone show up, and therefore require that everyone RSVP. When you RSVP as “Yes”, you are making a commitment to show up. If you don’t think you can make it, please change your RSVP on the website before 12 PM on the day of the meeting. If you have missed three meetings that you have RSVPed for, we will be forced to remove you from the membership list as other members may have wanted to join but could not.

New Organizer

We would like to welcome Edmund, who will be joining our Organizer ranks.

Special Events

Wine Tasting Trip – August 23, 2009 (Currently limited to 6 members)
We are going to spend a full day tasting red, white and ice wines from some of the known and unknown Niagara-On-The-Lake wineries. Edmund will be leading the tour and both Edmund and Mark have offered to drive. If there is anyone else who is willing to drive please let us know so we can increase the number of members who can come. The cost of gas will be split among the participants. Red and white wines usually cost $1 for a 1 oz sample and ice wine usually cost $3-4 for a 1 oz sample. Expect to spend $20-30 for the day for gas, lunch and wine sampling.


We are always open to ideas for events outside of our weekly Saturday Meetup. If you have an idea, please let us know by e-mail, via the Meetup site, or on the message board (links below.)
